Refreshing Summertime Beverage
Citrus flavored, large batch, frozen vodka slush – easy to make and delicious to sip in the summertime or anytime! I like to keep a container in my freezer for when a pop-up party happens. They are nice to just have in the freezer for anytime you just want to have a cool relaxing summer cocktail.
Years ago, my dad and mom made these for the family on a hot summer day when we were celebrating the 4th Of July. They were SO DARN GOOD, we make them every summer, at least once! Beware though…. they can sneak up on you! I just wanted to share since 4th Of July is coming up and frozen cocktail season is upon us.
Onto Making Them . . .
Ingredients In Frozen Vodka Slush:
- Frozen orange juice (Sometimes Switch Different Juices for Different Flavors)
- Frozen Lemonade
- Sugar
- Water
- Kettle One Vodka
- Lemon Lime soda for serving
When I make them, I always freeze them in an empty ice cream container. If you don’t have one, any sort of airtight container with a lid will work.
The recipe calls “1 1/2 – 2 cups of vodka – of course I always use a little more!! ” My dad loves a cocktail and loves to have a great time so I usually put in a little over 2 cups. So, just for him, I always add a little extra “splash” into mine.
Just a warning, the more Vodka you use, the harder it gets to freeze the slush solid. So don’t get too carried away!
When the slush is frozen, you simply scoop it out into a glass, and top it with lemon lime soda, like 7-Up. I have also used ginger ale, and more recently lime La Croix, so it’s not quite as sweet.
It’s also pretty to freeze some berries into the mixture. Or top the glasses with them! I love garnish and making the drinks pretty.
